For the first time in Europe: Belgian saxophonist Robin Verheyen's new quartet. Robin Verheyen is the rising star of Belgian jazz. At barely twenty years of age he established himself in New York, there he often plays in small clubs in Manhattan and Brooklyn where fresh talent and big names (like Branford Marsalis) rub shoulders. That competitive environment is perfectly suited to the driven performer Verheyen and it constantly inspires him to newer challenges.

Verheyen’s quartet is the most ambitious band to date. Ralph Alessi is known as one of the most creative performers on his instrument and is key figure in the bands of Uri Caine, Fred Hersch and Ravi Coltrane, amongst others. Driven by one of the most striking rhythm sections of the new New York scene, the quartet combines a vast musicality with an enormous dedication and sense of adventure. Ever present is the unbridled playing pleasure with which Verheyen always attracts the listener.

Line up:
ROBIN VERHEYEN: sax
RALPH ALESSI: trumpet
THOMAS MORGAN: bass
JEFF DAVIS: drums
